Last night we had our first colour competition and it was great to see a good number of prints submitted under Standard, Intermediate and Advanced category.

Judge Roger Mendham, of Surrey Photographic Association, spent more time in his critique of the Standard group images. As he said, he wanted to help the individual photographers in that category to learn how their images, however good, could have been improved. Roger’s constructive comments were aimed at the technical quality of the print as well as the emotional impact of an image. I felt that he was clear and concise in his critique, which made the evening very informative and interesting.

Needless to say the bar was much higher for the Intermediate and Advanced group.

Congratulations to all those who were successful in scoring ten in the competition.

All in all, I am sure we all enjoyed the evening and learnt a lot from it.
