Tips on Judging, critiquing and self-assessing photographs
In a photographic competition what does a judge look for in an image?
Graeme Wales LRPS led the evening. He is a great photographer and member of the Cheam Camera Club. He trained as a judge with Surrey Photographic Association, SPA for short, and travels to other clubs judging their competitions.
He first gave us an insightful talk about the criteria for judging images and then divided us in to small groups where we critiqued a few prints. It would be true to say that we tend to find it easy to critique some one else’s image than our own. However, Graeme helped us to start thinking about self-assessing our images objectively.
